About Us > Restructuring

As Chapter President of the Central Florida Business Travel Association (CFBTA),  I wanted to let you know of the new strategic direction being taken by our chapter. We are looking to expand CFBTA’s geographic scope in 2010 to encompass all of Central and North Florida as a result of NBTA’s recent decision to no longer allow branches. Although the incorporation of the chapter will continue to remain in Orlando, board positions will be open to any member, regardless of their physical location. It is also our desire to continue to hold events in both of the major cities in the region, Orlando and Jacksonville, and we hope to have leadership and committee members in both of these cities to coordinate events and build membership.

We invite you to join us in the journey of redefining our chapter. If you are in interested in taking a more active role, please contact me.

We feel confident that this new structure will put us in a much stronger position moving forward and will provide increased growth opportunities for all members.   We look forward to a creating a united organization which will provide a platform to address the needs to all members and encourage representation in all regional areas.

Lissa Curtin
President, CFBTA

Frequently Asked Questions
Central Florida Business Travel Association (CFBTA) Restructuring

Why is CFBTA restructuring and First Coast Business Travel Association (FCBTA) closing?
FCBTA has been a branch of CFBTA since 2005 and was the only National Business Travel Association   (NBTA) branch established. NBTA recently made the decision to no longer allow chapter branches. In an effort to continue to support the business travel industry in the Jacksonville area, CFBTA decided to expand the chapter’s geographic scope to encompass all of Central and North Florida.

Will there continue to be meetings in both Orlando and Jacksonville?
All of CFBTA and FCBTA events scheduled for the remainder of the year will continue as planned and posted.  It is our desire to continue to offer meetings in both Orlando and Jacksonville in 2010.

If I am interested in joining FCBTA or are already a member of FCBTA and want to renew my membership, do I do that with FCBTA or CFBTA?
So that we can transition into a single organization, all new memberships and all renewals should now be coordinated with CFBTA. Please visit the chapter website for contact info and additional information.

What kind of changes can I expect to see as a result of this change?
One change that we recently made was combining our communications.  Members will now receive one communication that will provide information on all upcoming events in the region as well as future events and other activities that may be of interest to members.

Will members in Jacksonville be on CFBTA's Board?
Board positions in CFBTA will be open to any member, regardless of their geographical location.   It is our hope that members from throughout the region will be on the CFBTA board so that all regions have a voice.

Will there be a name change to reflect the regional organization?
We will consider the option of changing the name to better define our membership.
